Payment Methods

I accept all major credit cards, FSA and HSA cards, cash or check.

Insurance

I am out of network with all insurance providers. Some insurance companies provide reimbursements for out-of-network services. To learn whether this is the case for you, call the number listed on the back of your insurance card.

Using Insurance vs. Out-of-Pocket

Using insurance to pay for mental health services can appear to provide savings,
but does it? Some clients are surprised to discover aspects of insurance they never knew.

Deductibles

Insurance companies provide payment to providers only after the deductible has been met. Many clients have high deductibles they are unable to satisfy—at least, not early enough in the year for it to make sense financially. Clients with a deductible may find they come out ahead by paying out-of-pocket.

Mental Health Diagnosis

To bill insurance, a therapist must assign a diagnosis from the DSM-5-TR. However, a client may not require a mental health diagnosis. They may be seeking therapy for personal growth or relational issues that don’t meet the criteria for a clinical diagnosis.

Privacy

A mental health diagnosis becomes part of the client’s medical record, which could be accessed by some employers or lead to issues with acquiring insurance coverage in the future. When paying out of pocket, your therapeutic work is not subject to the possibility of scrutiny by an insurer. It remains confidential.

Limited Service

Some insurance companies limit the number of sessions you are allowed. Clients who are not tethered to insurance dictates are free from externally imposed session limits that may not align with their needs.
